Frequently asked questions about Ada Health
What is Ada Health and what is it used for? +
Ada Health is a German digital health company, legally Ada Health GmbH, headquartered in Berlin. Its Ada app provides an AI-supported symptom checker that uses structured questions to suggest possible causes of health complaints and gives recommendations for next steps in care. The app is used by individuals as well as through partner programmes with health insurers, health systems and employers. Ada also offers a B2B solution for clinical triage and patient navigation inside healthcare organisations.
Does Ada Health run on European infrastructure? +
According to its privacy policy, Ada stores personal data in the European Union on servers of Amazon Web Services EMEA S.à r.l., based in Luxembourg. AWS is therefore the cloud provider, and the regions used are inside the EU. Because AWS is part of a US-headquartered group, additional safeguards such as standard contractual clauses and technical measures apply to mitigate exposure to US law. Ada itself is certified to ISO 27001 (information security) and EN ISO 13485 (quality management for medical devices).
Is the Ada app a certified medical device? +
Yes, the Ada Assess product is registered in the European Union as a Class IIa medical device under the Medical Device Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2017/745, MDR). The classification means that the software has been clinically validated and is subject to a CE conformity procedure involving a notified body. Ada also operates a quality management system in line with EN ISO 13485, which is specific to medical devices. The CE medical device status should be considered separately from listing as a DiGA in Germany, which only covers a subset of digital health applications.
